…In the most literal sense of the world. The Energy Efficiency Foundation course is a free day workshops throughout November and December at various venues around the United Kingdom and Ireland, for anyone with a professional interest in understanding and implementing energy efficiency measures.

New legislation, regulations and a chance to meet other movers and shakers, it is open to all architects, housing association staff, local authority officers, consultants, contractors… well, you know who you are. The courses are the result of a partnership between the Energy Savings Trust (EST) and the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

And if that appeals to you, check out The National Energy Foundation is running a series of renewable energy briefing events, held at the National Energy Centre in Milton Keynes over the Autumn of 2004 and Spring 2005. The full day events are designed to provide the background knowledge to the main renewable energy technologies and information on grants and planning. The briefings consist of presentations, workshops and demonstrations, with half day events focussing on specific technologies. Subjects covered include Renewable Energy for Buildings and Community Renewables, ground source heat pumps, solar water heating, photovoltaics, transport fuel, biomass and low head hydro. For those in the front line of local energy policy this is a unique opportunity to explore and expand their knowledge, with relation to all aspects of renewable energy.
