Perched one hundred metres above the Indian Ocean on the southern coast of Bali, lies the Alila Villas Uluwatu, a new resort opening in April.

Built with Environmentally Sustainable (ESD) certification in mind, the resort’s attention to water conservation, recycling and energy have gained it Bali’s first Green Globe certification, ESD’s highest level of certification.  

The development used local materials, water conservation with soaks and rain gardens and recycling with grey water systems, local plants from the special Bali Savannah ecosystem on the Bukit, which are being raised in a nursery on site to encourage local bird and animal life, heat pumps for water heating, and salt water pools.

Each of the 84 villas have a private pool. Five of the villas are cliffside and overlook the Bukit Peninsula.

The design of the interiors is integrated with the architecture. All the materials are locally sourced.

Guests can also relax at one of the five spa villas, where traditional Balinese massages and beauty treatments are offered. All while knowing that their ecological footprint is being kept to a minimum.
